Removing gun sights?

How do I get the front sight off my Reminton model 760? It has a screw that I have removed but once removed the sight is not loose and I can not seem to get it off. Any help?

Looks like there are 2 screws holding in the front sight ramp. Remove the front site and you should be able to then remove the second ramp screw.

I'll have to have another look. I only saw one screw holding the sight to the ramp. Once it was undone the sight did not budge on the ramp.

it appears that there is only one screw on top of the sight, and then two holding the sight ramp on, you may have to use a drift punch if you are just trying to remove the sight and not the ramp

Looking at the parts diagram, the frontmost screw might be under the sight blade. Try drifting the blade out and see if it exposes another screw. If you do decide to drift it though, make sure you replace the first screw you took out. It will lessen your chances of marring your gun's finish by properly securing the sight ramp against movement.

And also remember that if you choose to drift it out, use a brass drift punch and a light hammer. Yes, brass is soft, that's the idea, it won't mar the finish like a steel punch will. Also, you won't need a lot of force to move it, hence the light hammer instead of a claw hammer.
