What's your hunting weapon of choice?
Mine is a Remington Model 760 30-06 pump action with Leopold 4-12X scope.

I've got an old Lee Enfield 303 (I think every one in Canada has one) but I like the pump action more than the bolt.

Sako 75 stainless synthetic in .243 winchester. Leupold vari-x 111 6.5 - 20 x 40 and Harris bipod. Good for everything from feral cats to goats. I like to sit 200 plus yards away and drop them.

hey stick i bet thats a nice looking rifle. you like that leupold pretty well?
|
The Leupold is great! Even Ray Charles could see with it. Seriously, though, you've gotta have quality equipment. No matter how good your rifle is, it's no good going hunting with a piece of shit cheapy scope that's going to fuck you up.

For deer hunting in my area I can only use a shotgun, so I would have to say my 20 gauge Remington 870 youth model (yeah I know it's youth but its nice and small and quick to bring up) I have a rifled barrel and use remington coppersolid slugs, pretty accurate for a shotgun plus nice stopping power.

For the last thirteen years or better, I've been using a Mossberg 500A, and I love it. Problem is, in my "old" age, 3" Magnum 1oz slugs make it abusive on both the shoulder and the ears. The gun still shoots fine, and I will still use it for shooting clay pigeons. Next year, however, I'll "graduate" to a Savage 7mm-08 bolt. I'm looking forward to actually getting it, and firing some rounds through it. Not sure what I'll use for a scope yet. Don't need to spend $900 on one, but do have my eye on one at the store I bought the gun from...made by Nikon, if I remember right. Priced at $130 or so.

Still kind of new to the hunting world, but my choices are a Bowtech solo-cam bow or the Browning BAR 30.06. I'm left-handed, so the semi-auto rifle works well.
|
A Ruger Vaquero, blue, with a 7.5" barrel in .45 colt. Load is a 300 gr hard lead gas checked bullet of my own making with enough of Mr. Hodgdon's H-110 to make it go super-sonic. I can hit a quarter at 25 yds with this and will take a shot out to 75 yds with a rest.
This is very easy to carry. |
I'd pick what I feel most comfortable with, and that would be a Beretta 390 12 gauge. Clearly, a compromise choice, but one that can be used to hunt a wide spectrum of game.

tika 30-06
Rem 700 pss .308 |
Holland & Holland 12 gauge. Haven't got my rifle-license yet (Denmark has quite tight rules on firearms), so I'm more of a bird-hunter, and the H&H will reach out and pull down ducks, pheasants and partridge at up to 130 ft. with standard 12/65 cartridges of 6 shot.

M-21. I don't always eat what I killl, though.
