For those of you who liked to play with fire as a kid...

Flame-Thrower

Great summer project.... also we call it a "Weed Burner"

Destrox 07-01-2004 02:25 AM

Bill O'Rights 07-01-2004 04:59 AM

See...this is why they have the disclaimer; "Kids, don't try this at home".

I'm not a kid, so I'm trying it.

The ensuing dialogue also reminds me of something I did a couple of summers ago.

Mom: Ian, what's that?
Me: A catapult
Mom: Why did you build a catapult?
Me: To throw things at lego buildings.

absorbentishe 07-01-2004 08:04 AM

Man o man, I need one of those. Too bad I couldn't have that growing up...

my thoughts exactly

I saw a real flame thrower in action once at the Knob Creek machine gun shoot one year. That m'f'er puts out some SERIOUS HEAT. We were a good 75-100 feet away and it felt like I just opened the oven door and stuck my face in the crack as I was opening it.

Totally awesome

/gets ready to go to Lowe's

Exodus 07-01-2004 06:43 PM

Ok yeah... this is a way to keep people outta yer yard.... be seen playing with one of those!

Asuka{eve} 07-01-2004 07:00 PM

What is the legality of that thing?

dumbnutofak 07-01-2004 07:03 PM

I know here in Alaska it is a class C felony.... but again thats is why we call it a "Weed Burner".

krazykemist 07-02-2004 07:55 AM

That's a lot better than strapping welding tanks on your back.

gorilla 07-02-2004 10:36 PM

that is the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I wonder what a high school shop teacher would say if you walked into welding class with those plans.

lefty8080 07-04-2004 12:58 PM

That's why you don't tell the shop teacher what you're builing, or tell him it's something else. Now what else could you say it is?

krazykemist 07-07-2004 08:18 AM

Backpack camp fire starter?

Dostoevsky 07-07-2004 08:03 PM

omg.....I would definetly manage to burn myself with that setup. Cool!

merkerguitars 07-08-2004 11:54 AM

Holy cow that looks like fun!

Tusko 07-10-2004 10:48 AM

lol this has officially hit EVERY forum on the internet ;)

gump 07-12-2004 06:10 AM

that thing is sweet... it'd be hell on a hornet's nest.

macmanmike6100 07-16-2004 05:57 PM

oh wow; yes I could use this to destroy my weeds rather than kill them with bleach.

the things people make at home!

loxor 07-18-2004 06:21 PM

Wow i can cook the deer and without having to shoot it ...

ibis 07-18-2004 06:36 PM

I'm glad I didn't have access to one of those when I was a kid... I might not be typeing this right now.

stevie667 07-19-2004 03:58 AM

There is only one word that can properly describe that:

Bo

:p

sjsufer 07-19-2004 07:53 PM

wow we were never good in shop class so wd40 and a zippo taped to a stick magnifying glass also worked good on ants...

GakFace 07-20-2004 12:59 AM

wow, now thats sweetness. If any of you make this, I would suggest you make two, and the second be your super soaker.. as if you set a tree on fire, you'll need the range and power to put it out...

todd 07-29-2004 01:32 PM

Holy shit amazing. I just wouldn't want to be around when something goes wrong.

No kidding... I'm not sure I could put the pack on the first time, considering I'd be shaking like a cold little puppy hoping that I didn't have a pinprick leak!

Captain Canada 08-21-2004 05:40 PM

I'm so gonna make one of those. Soon. Oh, and by far the greatest thing in that thread posted by the guy that built it..... "Conclusion: Flamethrowers and Furries go together like Pol Pot and the Cambodian populace."
