Kimber CDP Pro

Here's the deal...many of you may remember me as the idiot who got his gun stolen from his vehicle a while back. Although I'm probally far too stupid/irresponsible (pokes poof) to be thinking about another gun purchase, I am.

Although I usually prefer function and reliability over super expensive guns, I have recently been given the opportunity to purchase a Kimber CDP Pro in about 95% condition for around $400. I won't bore you with the details, but it won't be for sale for another month or so. Obviously, I think it's a great deal, but I figured why not ask the good folks at TFP what experiences they have had with Kimber, and more specifically the CDP line.

I don't know much about the Kimber other than it's another 1911 knock off so parts are readily available if you need them. Other than that, the price is damn good.

Hmmm,

All I know about Kimber is that it is supposed to be a particularly good 1911 clone.

If the gun is in decent shape, I would be sorely tempted myself, even though I don't generally go for 1911's.

i bought one of the Special edition Kimber Stainless Target II' s this year but in 9mm. I am getting a 45 later on, and with my experience with the Kimber there is a 95% chance it will be another Kimber!

From talking to people that own them, Kimber's are great guns. I don't go for 1911's though, so I've not played with one.

The price sounds very solid.

For what it's worth, that's a heck of a good price for that pistol. I would be all over that.

I currently own a Kimber stainless target in .45 that probably has a good 2000 rounds through it. The only problem I have ever encountered were due to a bad magazine (not Kimber, mind you) that wouldn't feed properly.

Kimber uses CNC technology to machine their parts to very tight tolerances. The action is smooth, the weapon is accurate and reliable, and has earned a reputation for being among the best factory .45s you can buy.

The beauty of the cdp is that it's much more carry friendly than a full size 1911. That 1/2" in the Pro CDP makes a big difference.

Lastly, if I may be so bold, I also recommend fitting the pistol with a set of "Gunner grips," designed by the late Rob Simonich. There is, in my opinion, no better, more secure grip on the market for a 1911.
