Ways to carry
I use a Galco Concealment holster behind my right hip. Most every thing else is impractical for me. I can't wear a vest, and a fanny pack is a dead giveaway.
I would really like some sort of backpack that is designed for concealed carry. Since I am a student, a backpack never looks unusual or out of place, and I wouldn't have to worry about hugs. |
My CCW class instructor strongly suggested against any sort of purse/backpack carry situation. If the backpack/purse is stolen, you're fucked, and so are all of the people that weapon is used against.
You should just carry it on your person, or not carry at all. I, myself, use a clip-on "pocket" hip holster which goes inside the pants and clips on the outside. It's not actually on the hip, but in the front of my pants, barrel cleverly positioned away from the goods in case of an unlikely accidental misfire. ;) |
Those are great suggestions, but they can't beat my Machine Gun arm! I simply use my cybernetic controls to fold back the dactyl philanges attachment, then wreak the Havoc. Seriously, I don't have a machine gun arm, but I wouldn't definitely recommend against book bag carry. That's the first place a cop's gonna look if he has reason to search you. Even if you have a concealed carry permit, he's not going to be happy about the gun in your bag; furthermore, he's (or she's) going to assume you've been carrying onto university grounds. That's a big no-no. Good luck with the situation.

Since its hot in texas i mainly carry in the winter, with a shoulder holster, however, lately i have been carrying using the galco paddle holster on my back however sitting is awkward.

Galco SOB.

In my book-bag. When I need it, the bag is always on me, with the shoulder strap across my body and the pistol just below my right hand.
I'm such a skinny little bastard, if I used a holster it would look like I had a huge tumor or something. Of course, Iguess I could always carry something smaller than a 357 revolver... |

i have a paddle back holster to carry my glock26....
|
let me go a step back... why must you carry in the first place ? seriously, I have always been curious about that.....
|
where do you guys live? i live in cali, and i can't carry for nothing. i'm hoping to get a concealed weapons permit, but that seems unlikely.

I'll even link it because I'm such a helpful guy: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...threadid=20019 |
It depends on what I'm wearing. If it's cold out, I just wear it on my hip and wear loose clothing over the top. I usually clip my badge next to the holster in case my shirt gets pulled up.
If it's summertime, I wear it in a fannypack. Yeah, it's obvious, but it's better than not carrying it. Plus, I have a small .40 cal with a 3.5" barrel, so the fanny pack is realitively small. I've tried shoulder holsters, but I have yet to find one that is comfortable. (I'm a bit skinny too...) Do not carry the gun in something that you will set down, ie purse, day planner, backpack... The gun should be on your person and in your direct control at all times... |
IWB, no holster, Glock Klip,G-27, No problems, 2 years, no print,
never "made". |
Smart Carry, inside the pants, below the waistline, in front of the package. Completely conceals a Ruger P90 and extra clip!
|
I use a Pager Pal for my Ruger P90. Might just have to save up some money and get that Smart Carry thing bainatl mentioned.
|
I just ordered a Fist K1 universal holster with the IWB setup. I have heard only good things about this company and especially their kydex line, and I can't wait to get it. I'll post an update when it gets here, but the wait is supposed to be at least three weeks. Ugh.
|
I too like the IWB set-up. Depending on the size of the weapon, if you keep your posture in check, there's no way to tell you're carrying...

There are people intent on doing you harm who don't discuss the niceties of gun ownership on forums. Everyone here is standing in their way. You're welcome. |
I don't see why people are afraid of fire arms, it's only the idiots that throw them around like an article of clothing, or wors yet a fashion statement. I hold heat because i feel i have to, not because i feel cool. I guess what i'm tryhing to say is, if this thread terrifies you, you must not need to carry.

unfortunately for me where i live has really annoying laws on firearms in general, i think they are dumb, since the next time i take a 38 to the back from some thug ... the last thing i going to be thinking is hmmmm i wonder if he has a license for that .
i mean honestly, hold back people from defending themselves while criminals have full automatic and an extra mag.... these law are desperately idiotic... well im sure less kids will accidently kill themselves with their parents guns, but that isnt going to stop just about 90 percent of the rest of the shootings since they are done with illegal firearms |
Political discussions on guns go in politics.

Interestingly enough, you always hear about the bad things with guns, but you never hear about when somebody with a CCW stops a crime from happening or gets out of a dicy situation because he/she was armed. REALLY... you know it happens all the tiime, but when have you EVER heard about a citizen getting out of a dangerous situation because they were armed. N E V E R! It just is never reported. and why is that? |
I just got my new FIST Universal holster in the mail today. Simply put, it is awesome. It is secure, comfortable, and very concealable. It holds my gun closer than anything else I have ever tried.
