ATF redefines pistol grip shotguns as destructive devices??
 

Dunedan, I assume you would be in the know on this one, if anyone would be.

I've been hearing among the gun boards that the ATF has considered and will be classifying pistol grip shotguns as destructive devices because they do not meet the 'statutory' definition of a shotgun from GCA 68.

can you confirm this?

A regular customer who is an ATF Field (ie Dept. of Justice, as opposed to Treasury: ATF is under split control) agent says it's just the latest technical fuckup by the "booger eaters" on the "Treasury side" of the agency.

No, as far as I know, the ATF is not actually classifying pistol-grip shotguns as DDs. If the Agency -does- do this, it will be over the vociferous objections of a large portion of their "trigger pullers and head-crackers," who would rather be chasing Mexican gunrunners or Arab cigarette smugglers.
