what is this gun?
i'm not too much of a gun fanatic, even if i was born n raised in the great state of texas. what is this gun? (not me in the photo, fyi) my friend went out and shot it with some buddies, she came back and was like "i don't remember what it was."
it looks like an M16, but i can't find any particular models that look quite like that, particularly on the part of the sight closer to the eye. i'm sure someone here will know instantly. thanks! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2274/...ebd1bff1_b.jpg |

Maybe, I'm not very good at this game and as you can see, it's rather customizable. |
Nice setup. Throw on some rear irons and you'll have a rifle again.
Gun appears to be a midlength AR (the gun) with EOTech optic (the sight). If asked to guess, I'd say it's an EOTech model 512 on either a Bushmaster or Rock River. Just a guess, of course. Very similar to: __THIS__ |
AR 15

i think you are right Hektore. i thought it was an M4 carbide too, but i couldn't find any photos that perfectly matched, but obviously there are a lot of accessories there, including what looks like was on the gun (i can't read what it is, but right above the sight on the actual gun)

Can't make out the rollmarks, but I'd say Plan9 is spot on. Mid-length 16" carbine w/ Eotech. Different from the M4 carbine (14.5" barrel) in barrel length, gas system (mid length gas systems have the gas port placed further out for longer 'dwell time' and less harsh cyclic action), obvious lack of 'fun switch'. etc.
Given Eotech's less than stellar reputation (especially on older models), I think your friend could do very well to place a Back Up Iron Sight ("BUIS") on the gun. |
