M4 Sling Adapter Choice - Magpul, KZ, or ?

Got another shooting class coming up on the 14th and then 29th... I'm out buying gadgets and gizmos for my AR again.

I don't like the one side / both side rings / loops models because they seem to get in the way of the selector switch / charging handle and don't allow for as-quick-as-I-want shoulder-to-shoulder transitions... but these three sit-under-the-tube models seem like they'll fit the bill nicely. I used the old school GI two point sling for both deployments but that was only because we weren't allowed to return fire. I need something faster (read: ambidextrous) for these hot-hot target range obstacle courses like leaning out from barrels on each side and shooting from and through vehicles.

I've got a simple 2" single point breakaway sling that I'm going to attach to one of the following items with good old 550.

Magpul ASAP - Magpul ASAP Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point

vs.

KZ ambi - KZ Ambidextrous Sling Adapter

vs.

Blackhawk ambi - Blackhawk Ambidextrous Sling Adapter

...

Thoughts? Anybody use / own these?

I haven't used any of those, but I personally like my sling to be setup for my primary hand, low profile, and NOT on a swivel (or I am constantly untwisting it).

It is so low profile it shouldn't in any way interfere with your manual of arms. We just got a bunch, but I have not had time to decide whether it makes a single-point worth using (I feel they are usually awesome on a flat range, but horrible as soon as you need to climb something, fast rope, etc.).

Yeah, I used the standard sight-and-stock two-point (front slung) almost exclusively until I got into the steel plate circus scene... now I'm seeing the advantages of the single point on the flat range, as you pointed out above. The need to transition firing shoulders quickly overrides manageability.

I won't be doing ladders, tunnels, fast roping, or MC1-1'ing anytime in the near future... so I'll be okay with a bare bones playtime steel gun.

I'm thinking the Magpul is probably the fastest, but I don't like the idea of stuff clinking around. The KZ is the simplest looking and probably the safest bet for two wraps of 550. I don't like Blackhawk stuff... mostly because their stuff often smells like it was made in Vietnam by dying slave children.

i use this one

Midwest Industries End Plate Adapter. This adapter fits over the buffer tube of a collapsible stock M-4/AR-15. Installation requires only the removal of the shoulder stock and sliding the adapter over the buffer tube. Tighten the hex nut down with the supplied allen wrench. Re-install the shoulder stock portion to finish.

Dumb question. Has anyone here ever had problems with a single point sling getting caught up on the charging handle and pulling the bolt out of battery?

I've been drilling with the KZ adapter and as long as you have the chest strap cinched tight and connector-to-weapon-doohickey-strap properly secured, I don't see how that could even happen. It isn't loose enough to get close to the charging handle except when I'm doing a transition to a sidearm and only briefly as I lower it. The connector piece is simply too long to allow the charging handle near it.

My setup consists of an all nylon single point with side-release buckles on both the connector-doohickey and the main chest strap. It's ghetto.

Only issue I ever have is when running... sometimes the buttstock will wiggle inside the chest strap over the top. My mag-boobs act like a sling shelf.

What kinda sling / plate setup are you running? I wanna see. Does it have an extension coming off the main body at all? I think that is crucial.

...

I missed you, Walter. I laid awake at times... wondering if still have that emergency Uzi wrapped in brown paper. I need to borrow it.

Good to know. I've never run a single point as it seemed to me that while transferring from your primary to your sidearm, there could potentially be enough slack to allow the charging handle to get hung up. Your set up is definitely ghetto, but it also seems to be working out for what you're doing. Nobody can argue with that. The 550 chord is a nice touch.

I'm running a pretty basic M4. It has a two point sling that connects to swivels in the forearm and left side of the stock, respectively. The swivels do tend to get turned around and the sling twists up when I throw it on real fast, but its only a minor annoyance.

Slims introduced me to this particular sling - Vickers Tactical - and I'm loving it. It's sturdy and has a neat feature that allows you to cinch your weapon up tight to your body on the fly as the situation dictates.

And I've still got the Uzi sitting next to a bag full of my dirty undies...just in case.
