If you could wish...
1. All guns away
or 2. A gun of equal lethality for every person on Earth (with equal carry rights for all) or 3. Other* Must explain! Personally, I favor the "equality" philosophy. If military and police have access to assault rifles then so should civilians. But that goes both ways, if civilians have access to assault rifles, then we should raise the taxes until every police force has access as well. IMO it's the unequal armament that creates the most chaos and death. I voted for other. Personally I think guns are too useful (hunting, empowering the weak, etc) to outright wish away, but I'd still like to wish away all concealable weapons and all automatic weapons or assault rifles. So preferably if I had a magic wish, I'd wish for a magical ban on everything except bolt action rifles and pump action shotguns with equal rights and availability for all. Snipers would be nice to ban but I can't think of a way that wouldn't effect hunting as well (scopes are often needed for large game.) |
Only a sith deals in absolutes.
So, other. |

PS OH god I forgot to ban lightsabers ;) PPS Now I have this imagery in my head of Sith wielding shotguns going on wookie hunts. |
Other. If i could wish, I would wish that I personally had unlimited free access to that gun room in the Matrix, and leave everything else the same.

I voted for other.
You can ban whatever you want, but it will never solve any of the true problems. My personal example, from living in the UK for the last few months: In the US, the police really care less if I carry a pocket knife. But in the UK, my 2.5" blade pocket knife got confinscated by the police because it has a locking blade and is considered an "offensive weapon". The point is, that you can never successfully disarm everyone. As soon as you ban one thing, you have to start worrying about whatever weapon is still not banned. Mean while, the true thugs and criminals don't care if the gun they have is banned. Banning guns is pointless unless you have parents that are willing to put the time and effort into raising kids that aspire to be something more than drug dealers and criminals. |
3. Other:
That hoplophobia, which has crept in to this nation's psyche, would go away. I think the gun laws are fine as they stand, just the cultural fascination of firearms, which is a combination of fear, awe and disgust, too often obscure fact finding. |
All guns gone.

All guns gone.
I'd prefer humanity go back to butchering itself with implements that require more effort. Like swords, clubs... sharp sticks. |

It's a lot harder to kill someone with a knife. It's way more personal. |
Mhmmmm but what about the bow and arrow? The English will rule again! Nooooo!!
But I totally agree about blades, wish they'd come back in style. |

"God created men. Sam Colt made them equal". If humanity went back to walking around with pointy sticks, there would be little that could stop me from hunting and eating people for fun and wearing their skulls as a decorative codpiece.
Just walk away. |

You fail to clarify what in covered by guns.....tanks? rockets? RPG? bombs? These more 'modern' implements of war cause way more impersonal death than all the guns combined....at least with a gun you mostly have to see the person you are killing. With a rocket you can kill 50,000 without hearing a single scream.
I think those that wish to eliminate guns are unaware of the really violence that people are capable of. |

In a gun-free armageddon... wow, a lot of people would be really screwed. It'd be all Genghis Khan again.
Women, children, elderly... people that have useless occupations like stock brokers and video game designers. |
I'd like to live in a world where people use guns only for recreation and hunting. I love shooting, but I personally don't think anyone needs to own fully automatic/burst fire weapons until we as a race become more responsible.

I would wish that the funding and collective will necessary to enforce either be dedicated to improving the socioeconomic conditions of the impoverished. That would take care of a significant amount of violent crime in itself, and thereby reduce the need for guns dedicated to purposes other than putting holes in paper and expired produce.
