replacing a crossbow string
so a friend of mine gave me an old recurve crossbow, circa 1980- I am guessing its about a 150 LB pull- fiberglass bow with wood stock- I used to see some like it back in the 90's- It has no string, so I am looking for a new one- there is not an archery pro shop near me, and I am guessing that it is not a high end model- there is no label on it, but it has a logo that looks like a stylized bow and arrow pulled back to fire..... anyone with crossbow knowledge got ideas on where to get a string?

I know jack shit about bows, but maybe if you're able to post pictures..?
I don't do archery, but I can do research! |
The Dick's Sporting Goods near me has archery experts and even an archery shooting range. Maybe a local sporting goods store could help? If not, see if there are any bowhunting clubs or organizations nearby.
Also, post pics. |
yeah- no digi cam at this time, but to update, I have tried two strings from seemingly comparable units, rated at 150 lbs, and both strings broke on the first firing- so at this point, after exhaustive searches online for any sign of this bows manufacturer, I am gonna hope that some local sporting goods store can point me at something...... anyone know of a good crossbow site......
