Semmerling LM4 - Want.
.45 ACP, 5 rounds, manual action. Big deal, right?
Fits in your pocket. 5.2 x 3.7 x 1.0 inches Article: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...n14816287/pg_1 replicas being made by American Derringer as an "LM4 Simmerling": http://www.amderringer.com/lms.html I've shot some American Derringers before and they are not Sat. Night Specials. Be prepared to pay actual money for them. Not sure how much the Simmerling costs. Would be a good match for my 1911, no? |
Does a barrel that short reduce the recoil to the point that shooting it doesn't risk breaking fingers? And more importantly, are 5 rounds of .45 better in a carry piece than twice that many of 9x19 in a P-11 that's only a fraction of an inch taller? Carrying a gun is about preparing for a worst-case scenario, and the worst thing I can think of realistically running in to is multiple targets.

Fun toy / collectors piece but not something I'd carry as a primary or even a secondary. Manual action? Great if you're the last man on earth, maybe.
Better choices: Glock 36 .45. (single stack) Keltec PF9 9x19mm. (single stack, really tiny) S&W J-frame .38 Spec. (old faithful snubbie) Somebody please enlighten me: What's with the "super-ultra-mini" fetish among concealed carry folks? Carry something you can actually use. Hell, just wear an annoying baggy shirt and you can carry your H&K USP 45 like me. Miniature "wonder" guns aren't the answer to your self-defense needs. Thing reminds me of the Liberator from WW2. /scolds himself for owning a P32. |

That right there is a quality firearm. |
Yeah, I just want it. My 1911 works fine. I open carry, when I do.

I've been contemplating open carrying my S9, and live in the west 'burbs. Haven't seen too many people with pistols on their hips walkin' around, though. |
fuck thats teensie!
what would you need one of these for? unless your a gangster or something, i see no use for it. at least if you miss all 5 times, you could put it in a sock and beat the fucker down. |

Wait, sorry... that's just my personal hard-on "perfect" CCW. And also, it's gonna cost me at least three grand if'n I want to buy one anytime soon. But yeah, I agree - even though this is a cool little novelty weapon... I can name a dozen or so offhand better suited to daily carry. Or even backup carry. STILL... neat little collector's item! Someone should search for video of this thing in action! |

AFAIK, it's specifically illegal in Denver but I'm not sure about that. Of course, there's also a law here in Lakewood I've heard rumors about that you're not allowed to have a gun rack in the window of your pickup truck... "uh, what?" In CoSpgs the police have been specifically instructed NOT to hassle anyone open carrying due to some lawsuit a decade or more ago. If you do open carry know it's illegal to carry into any building marked with "weapons prohibited", hospitals, anywhere alcohol is sold and government buildings. Not sure about churches, I think I remember something about that but that really doesn't affect me ;) |

... I live outside DC. I wish open carry was an option for me... but legal or not, it is frowned upon and I've been hassled before and after 9/11. |
