Basically it's equivilant to an 80mm mortar you fire much like the BFG (Big Fucking Gun) back in Doom.

Ahem, BFG 9000. Which was really easy to get if you remembered IDKFA. Or you didnt need it if you could remember IDDQD. But yeh... cool gun.. though i think the "shock mitigation" is referring to the ability to absorb recoil, NOT the type of projectile that it fires. This gun just allows you to shoot really really big rounds. While the DOOM BFG 9000 was an energy weapon.

Heh yeah blade I know. I was not implying that it could be fired rapidly killing zombie/alien mutations and the really big eyeball-thing at the end.
Yes the shock mitigation is the very powerful shock absorbers which allow a standing human to fire something which otherwise would break us.

It's basically like the recoiless rifles you see mounted on trucks and tripods, but with a shoulder stock. Nothing new, just a much shorter barrel and shoulder stock. Although I can easily see the applications for Iraq.
Still I'd rather use the revolving 20mm grenade launcher, follow up shots are a lot easier and you're less of a target on your ass. |
