The Beretta 87

Anyone heard good/bad things about it? All the official reviews I've read so far seem to be positive. I'm looking for a nice looking double action .22 LR pistol that will not suck (ie. not a P22 or Sig Mosquito), but won't be butt ugly (ie. not a Ruger), and so far this pistol seems to fit the bill.

A .22?

I donno.

Even if you like the looks (which I don't) ... isn't that like getting a BMW M3 with a 4 cylinder 70hp engine?

What's the point?

Then what's wrong with a Ruger .22?

That Beretta looks more cumbersome than a .22 ought to be.

To continue with my analogy ... A Honda Civic is also a zippy and fun car to drive ... but you wouldn't want that engine in a Jaguar platform ... it's a whole different beast.

If I liked the asthetics of a Jaguar, but wanted the fuel economy of a Civic, I'd drive a 4 cylinder Jag, no problem. The main attraction for .22 lr for me is that it is 10-20% the price of other rounds, and thus significantly more economical to shoot over time.

dk: They're rimfire.

Whilst I disapprove of the .22 I will defend to the death your right to shoot it ...

... well, maybe not to the death.

Go for it.

As an aside:
My guilty pleasure was a .45 colt Uberti Cattleman that looks just like Charles Bronson's gun in Once Upon a Time in the West ... I shot it and stripped it for cleaning a couple of times ... now the cylinder is having trouble locking ... When I get a moment I'm going to have to learn more about SA mechanism and completely strip it. But I'm left with a nice looking paperweight.

Haha. Nice looking paperweights are entirely underrated.
