My mom is on the line between irked and outright pissed off
She can't understand why a friend would think that a Mosin-Nagant M44 Carbine is an appropriate gift as thanks for helping him get re-admitted to school (long story, doesn't need to be told here.) She understands that it's cheaper to buy the gun than rent a rifle for four hours, and acknowledges that it's a beautiful piece of hardware, especially considering its age, but the former captain of the Fordham University women's rifle team cannot understand why I would want to need the right to bear arms at my age (22) and why I would want to keep a rifle in her house.
   it's beditme |

Waht she's really going to be pissed about is the surplusrifle.com "lazy man's method" of removing cosmoline. I can just imagine it now, shouts of, "Ian, why is your gun in the dishwasher?!" |
dude, the dishwasher is not a good way to remove cosmoline, it's really bad for the wood.
try a steam cleaner. http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting...line/index.asp |
D'you ever find that screw?
|
keep us posted on the results of this method

The dishwasher worked well on the metal parts, but since couldn't fit the stock in I tried Easy-Off BAM degreaser and it worked fine. All I need to do now is get some electrical tape to make a homemade headspace gauge, and I'm set.
