"Do you want to move the read-oly file blah.bla?"
YES! I DO! That is actually why I dragged that file to a new location; because I actually want to MOVE it. Grrrrrr... Is there any way to stop this message being displayed. Many a time I have set up a multi-gigabyte folder move and walked away from my machine and only to come back a half hour later expecting it to have completed LONG ago, only to notice that it stopped at 3%, wondering what on earth it is supposed to do with a read-only file. |
I think it's due to the permission of some kind, just select all of the files and right click onto Properties and uncheck Read-Only and that'll solve your problem.
I don't even know why the hell Microsoft thinks that every read-only files should be double checked with the user to make sure if they really want to move that particular file. |
Yeah, I know that I could remove the read-only property. But I don't want to have to remember to do that every time. It usually happens with the 'thumbs.db' files and the like - which of course I want to move along with the folder.

Dude turn hidden files off for the time being, and you won't have to drag around stupid thumbs.db files :)
|
Right drag & copy first, then delete the original later. Large copies are safer this way anyway vs. half the files completing then a problem causing some discombobulated mess of what did & didn't make it across.
