Computer going to the craps
I know my computer is considered old, but i don't have the funds to upgrade this machine.
Anyways everyonce and a while my machine wont reconize my HD in the boot process. it is a SCSI HD, so the SCSI bios doesnt reconize it and skips to my CDROM and CD-RW. which leads to it saying SCSI BIOS not installed. so I have to reset my computer and basically just have it try again until it finds it. the cables seem to be in there securely, does anyone know what could be wrong? p3 733 256 mb pc133 ram 18gig scsi seagate HD HP SCSI CD RW Kenwood SCSI CD-rom NVIDIA graphics w/ tv out win xp sp2 |
Sounds like the drive might be on the way out.

Try another cable?
Do you have more than one slot to plug the HDD into? Check the HDD on another PC. That's what we would do at work but we do have the benefit of having about 30 spare PCs to test thangs on.... |
Do you have another port into which you can plug the SCSI drive?
It could be a problem with your controller/port. |
no, the scsi card has 2 slots that cables can go into.
the larger slot has my 2 cd-roms going into it. the smaller one has my HD its weird sometimes works right up, other times doesnt, then just have to retry and retry. also ive noticed that when my comp is booting up, the dos mode looking thing sometimes has letters missing or other character added in weird places. |
