Dell 700M + New Video Card = Possible?
Anyone here know if/how I can replace the stock video card in my Dell 700M laptop with one that could handle games? I believe the video is integrated into the chipset and cannot be upgraded. So perhaps I could upgrade the chipset? I'm strugglin' here for solutions.
Thanks in advance. |
Likely not. The 700M is 1.5" thick, and if you've ever seen a standard PC video card, its about 4.5" thick. There's a slight dimension problem there. They DO sell special video cards for laptops, but they're usually proprietary and pre-installed. I doubt you have the free slot to install the video card, even if you found a compatabile one. Since laptops are almost entirely proprietary, your only help is to look for an "upgrade plan" through Dell.

I have a 700m and the video card is integrated.
I don't think there is any real way to upgrade, though I seem to recall there were options when I was assembling it online. I just don't remember what the options were... |
Thanks both of you. Yes the video card is integrated, and no there aren't any other options for the 700m through dell, but I was hoping there were 3rd party solutions.
Thought I'd give it a try. Thanks again. |
No expansion slot = no possible video upgrade.
Try lowering the resolution when playing games. |
