welli got this monitor for my computer and it will randomly just put red streaky lines across the screen. I't sthe monitor because when i try to take a screen shot he lines don't appear in the picture. I bought it from best buy, and it's about 2 months old now. Any one got any solutions or suggestions?

Take it back?

bendsley 09-04-2005 08:36 AM

Take if back and have it replaced. The monitor should be covered by the MFG's warranty. Best Buy will either have it send off to be fixed or if the product is DEVO, they will exchange it at the store.

Make sure you have your receipt. If you paid by check or charge, they can look it up if you don't have the receipt. If you paid with cash, you are out of luck without your receipt.

this is going to cause issues, not sure with other stores, but I work at a best buy, and any thing involving the manufacturers warranty is on the customer after the return policy.

Yes, it sounds like what you have are dead pixels and almost all monitor manufactures replace monitors that has too many dead pixels or flickering screen within a year

pacaveli 09-04-2005 11:03 AM

dead pixles? how would that work i thought that was only on LCD screens. anyways it only comes from the right hand part of the montior and it like pulsates depending on what it's current "mood"

What department do you work in? I was the Service Manager for 3 years at the local store where I live. Best Buy will most certainly help someone out if it's still under the manufacturer's warranty. Best Buy even states that it will honor manufacturer's warranties. This is because if Best Buy returns the item and the customer receives a new one, then Best Buy will DEVO the product back to the manufacturer for credit. This way, Best Buy doesn't lose any money and neither does the customer.

If Best Buy cannot exchange it through DEVO, then the customer can have it shipped to one of Best Buy's service centers through Best Buy (ie. customer doesn't have to pay anything), and Best Buy will fix it per manufacturer's specs under the manufacturer's warranty.

I don't know where you're getting your information that if it's still under warranty and Best Buy sold it to them that it falls completely on the customer.

hmm i can't seem to find the box, i guses i threw it away, does that make a difference?

bendsley 09-04-2005 05:55 PM

Well, that depends. If its sent off for service, then no, it won't matter. It will be shrink wrapped on a big cart and then sent to service. The service center guys are pretty good. I've taken a tour of the one in Flower Mound, Texas. It services most of 3-4 states.

If it's returned and exchanged, it shouldn't matter, no. That box is probably quite large.
