New Graphics Card Installed - Problems
So I just got an XFX GeForce 6600 GT AGP, and replaced the old GeForce FX5200 in the AGP slot on my Dell GX270. I get the latest drivers for it after the hardware is in, and everything seems to be working fine. I load up TrackMania and the screen goes black for a few seconds and then goes into standby mode, and I had the sound on and it sounded like the computer froze. After restarting I tried again with Full Spectrum Warrior, and I was able to play around in the menu and everything, but when I hit "Start game" as soon as the game loaded up it did the same thing. Can anyone help? |

| Junkie Location: Go A's!!!! | something else, and it is a long shot see if Dell has any video drivers, sometimes PC companies such as Dell that use a lot of proprietary stuff have their own drivers for a certain card that might help you. Another thing to look into is make sure you got latest DirectX drivers from Microsoft this can help a lot of times too.

| Junkie Location: Toronto | well, sometimes you can stare at the card and think you got it right. I agree It should not be assumed that everybody knows about the power supply. I know that when I added a cd-writer to my old Dell, even following the instruction manual, it took me two days of frustration and calling around just to figure out how to attach the bus to slave it. The only reason that I know about the power supply for a video card is because yesterday i was browsing them online and Tigerdirect.ca had a blow up schematic with an arrow pointing to the power supply connection. I would have been at the mercy of the instructions as well. |
