Symantec security alert trouble...HELP!
I'm going nuts trying to get rid of this security alert popup.
It keeps coming back every ten seconds or so. My virus subscriptions have expired, so I'll need to renew, but meanwhile, I want to stop the alert. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...urityalert.jpg I have the Windows firewall on, so I turned it off, but the alert came back. I tried not clicking the button on the alert, but again it popped back up. Does anybody know what the hell to do?? Anyone??? :| I can't get anything done unless I leave the popup at the bottom of my screen. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. |
Uninstall Norton AV and install something free like AVG, Avast Personal or ClamWin.
Norton is a resource hog. Also, it's quite intrusive, as you see with your warning not going away. |
There was a program out there you could get... I forget what it was called, but it automatically pressed OK on certain dialog windows for you. If I can recall the name I'll post it here.

get rid of Norton and get TrendMicro. 'nuff said
I don't think I've ever seen that thing keep coming up like that though.. |
Alternativly you can start --> run --> "msconfig" and in the far right tab called 'startup' uncheck anything that looks like it's norton. Then again that might disable your antivirus 'always on' bit but it's a quick fix.

Thanks for all your input, guys. :) I appreciate it.
I went ahead and uninstalled NIS and the anti-virus and installed Avast! personal anti-virus. Question-- Is it a good or bad idea to use two of these free anti-virus programs on my computer? |
Some may say it's bad, others say it's no problem, but for the sake of the registry and system resources ... only need one program IMHO.
