Kick-ass Firewall and Anti-Virus???
Im looking for a very good firewall and anti-virus program that's mac compatible. I use OS X but just recently hooked it up to the internet....I'm looking for something downloadable and if possible free.....thanks in advance... :)

Since you have Mac OSX, you could just about free-ball it without a problem. As for an AV, I'm pretty sure Symantec offers Norton for OSX. It will look for all 12 (exageration of utter lack of any, but still, there can't be more than 100) viruses that affect Macs.
They also may offer a firewall, but I have no idea. A BSD one should run on it since OSX is basically that with a real pretty skin. |
well, in my opinion the best firewall for win users is BlackICE, i don't use Mac0S so i don't know what firewall rulez this scene ...

I belive OS X has a firewall built in.

Yep, for the firewall OS X has a built-in version of ipfw. Check the sharing preferences pane if you haven't already. It can be extensively customized if you need complex rules.
For AV try Sophos. They provide a free 30-day trial. There's also clamav on the free side. |
Cool...I found the built-in firewall...just had to turn it on...:)
