Buying DVDs online

If a DVD you bought online is damaged/scratched, how do you/can you return it? Especially if you live overseas?

Also, is it possible to pay for an exchange through a different store than the one you bought the DVD from?

Just wondering if it's a good idea to buy stuff from (most likely) Amazon because they don't sell it here. Incidentally, for those of you who's bought DVDs from Amazon, what's their ratio for scratched/unscratched discs?

I buy cds and dvds from Amazon all the time. Never had a bad disk.

Never ever had a scratched cd or dvd from an online (or brick and mortar for that matter) store, and I have bought many a cd and dvd.

However, I don't buy used cds or dvds for that very reason.

Ok, that's reasurring to hear. :)
I've got one DVD where the disk wouldn't read, but I think it might be that the employees weren't handling it all that carefully.
But I'm paranoid about stuff like this anyway.

But let's just say that it was a bad disc, do I send it back for an exchange? And what about 2nd hand stuff, is there a 30 day money back guarantee or something?

I have bought over 150 discs from deepdiscountdvd and lasersedge. I've returned 3 or 4. There have been exactly zero problems with any of the transactions. I have also dealt with 3 replacements via the originating studio, for Back To The Future, the Universal Monsters Collection, and Kiss Me Kate. Again, no problems. I work for a retailer who thinks service is job 1, so it's nice to see other companies act that way, too.

I've bought plenty of DVDs online, never had any real issues. I usually get them from DVD Empire. They have a return label inside the package for easy returns. But, like I said, I've never had to use them. There should be info on their web page about returns. Now, if it's a relatively popular disc, there is always the alternative of just taking it to Wal Mart and doing an exchange and saying you lost the reciept (don't tell anyone I said that, though).

I buy from Glacier Bay DVD on ebay, great prices, and great return policy.
