Gentoo Installation Problem
This is a relatively small problem I imagine, but I'd still like to have the answer. I have an Asus P4P800E-Deluxe motherboard and Gentoo (using the LiveCD installation) can't find the onboard Gigabit ethernet. I know I can install Gentoo without being connected to the internet, but I'm looking to do a Stage 1 installation as I have in the past. Anyone with any ideas on how to fix this?

A quick search suggests sk98lin is the name of the module used for your gig card. Is that included on the LiveCD (modprobe -l | grep sk98lin)? If it is, what does a "modprobe sk98lin" tell you? if it says nothing, then you should be able to use the gig card (ifconfig eth0 up)....
Are you running the minimal LiveCD or the full one? I'm not sure if the full LiveCD has more modules or anything.. but it may. edit: bendsley, before you even say anything.. you're not welcome in this thread :D |
Well, right after I made this post, I remember that I had that Novell Linux CD with SuSE 9.1 Pro, so I tried that installation. It worked perfectly, so I think I'm just gonna mess around with it for a while. Thanks for the help, though.
