Is there a way to run a .exe instead of a Screensaver?
Basically, I want to run a .exe file as my screensaver, and I want it to run after about ten minutes, is there anyway I can set that up?
Thanks in advance. |

ZyIdleTimer runs a program after a period of system inactivity.....sounds like what you're looking for. |
Hm, this sounds really interesting.
The possibility for pranks is endless! Now, to brush up on my C++... |
a screen saver is an exe.
just rename it with the proper extension |
hmm, I'm gonna test that out...by that logic, I should be able to rename firefox.exe to firefox.scr and in 5 minutes, a Firefox window will open........
Tried it, it's true, but it does not work well. Makes me think it won't work correctly with something that's not deigned to be a screensaver. Even notepad was quirky when I tried to do it by renaming it to notepad.scr |
Irfanview can do it. It's a freeware ($0) and can make photos into scr/exe. I have been using it for about 3 years now.
|
the extension scr is also a script file. all the screen saver does is execute the file it is pointed to.

it is a bit weird, notepad looks for a lot of files as it loads, that is why you get some weird problems. i asume this is the same problem with firefox. try a basic exe, like cmd.exe that works perfectly.
