ok im looking for a good webhost

i need SQL (preferably mySQL), php, javascript support
id like to have ssh access
and free SSL would be nice but not required...

so far ive found
http://ace-host.net/specialplan.html

their pretty cheap and have all the features i'm lookin for

I'm gonna be using it to host my personal page and stuff but i'll also be using it to work on my uncles online store, and any other projects I wanna mess with...

so anyone have any other good hosts i can look into?

1and1.com has stuff, plus a bunch of free trials every now and then (still haven't paid them for hosting) and someone once told me that they liked http://tilted.com alot...but I can't verify that...

If you're going to have to setup a commerce center and whatnot for the online store, you might look at OSCommerce. It's GNU licensed (free).

I second rackspace. Also, depending on how much bandwidth you plan on using, and how proficient you are at managing a server, running your own can be quite cost-effective.

DreamHost is terrible. 9 Dollars isn't bad, but if you're running anytype of important website ( sales, etc ), I defintely would NOT go there. Not to mention their webservers are so slow, I've never downloaded faster than 60kb/s from their servers. I run a gaming website from them.

I think the best host out there is http://www.mesopia.com/ I've had a website from there for almost 2 years, never had any problems at all, great support for any questions, and I always download 400+KB/s from them.

That's interesting. I just transferred to Dreamhost from Webaxxs, which I felt was ripping me off.

Do a quick search, there have been several threads about this in the past that had good information.
