Whihc does the best work?
for removing spyware?
Spybot Search and Destry ScanSpyware Adaware |
I haven't used the middle one, but I regularly use the other 2...
I'd say use both, what one doesn't catch, the other might. Other than that, Spybot does offer more functionality than a simple scan, without registering. |
Ditto what Nisses says, I also use Zone Alarm's built-in antivirus, ditched Norton.

I have found that using a combination of several ones work best. What one doesn't catch, the other ones will.
If all of that fails, format. My list: Ad Aware Spybot Hijack This! CWShredder Kill2me Shoot the Messenger |
I really like HijackThis, and I think Spybot is better than adaware because of the "immunize" function. However, I haven't used adaware in a while so as far as I know they may have implemented something similar and I don't know about it.

i've heard good rec's for Spysweeper.
but of course, use a combo. and next time, wear a condom ;) |
I use Ad-Aware and Spybot. Spybot's Tea Timer has good real-time protection.
I also use Symantec Anti-Virus. It's basically a lite version of the full Norton package by the same company. I haven't tried others. I can definitely say that even with adware/spyware/virus protection it can still get on your PC really bad. I had to format a few months ago because of adware and spyware that got on to my PC with real-time protection enabled. I used every known spyware and adware program to alleviate the program and none of them worked. I simply had to format. The bad part is that I hadn't been to any trash/porn sites. It just sort of happened one day while I was playing Battlefield Vietnam. -Lasereth |
