RAID images - GHOST, etc
Hey all, question about imaging drives:
Can you make an image of a RAID volume? I have two SATA 36GB Raptor drives in RAID 0, and was wondering if I can image the striped set to facilite quicker rebuilds of the OS when needed....? Its a pain in the rump to reinstall every time...I'd rather rebuild from an image in .0001% of the time, if possible. |
absolutely. At the software level you see a disk volume. Whether it's a physical disk or a logical one should not make any difference to any application.
The only consideration you may face - is if you have a controller that for some reason doesn't hook int13 properly and requires a real-mode driver for DOS access (translation for the masses: if you can boot a diskette holding down Shift and FDISK the raid volume, it'll work.) Ghost, PowerQuest, whatever else...it's all good. |
It is very easy, as jolt said; it looks like one large disk to the system. Use Norton ghost or any other comparable tool and you should have no trouble.
