[Flash MX] Video & Sound Sync
 

I'm importing .mov (Quicktime video) files into Flash MX, and upon importing Sorenson Spark kicks in and allows me to edit these video files.

This wizard allows me to alter the Bandwidth, Quality, Keyframes, Compression and Synchronization to the Flash document.

So I set the Quality to 100%, Bandwidth & Keyframes to 0% and tick the little box which says 'Synchronise to Macromedia Flash document frame rate'.

Then when I export the movie: I keep the JPEG quality at 100%, I tick the 'Compress movie' box and it doesn't appear to make a difference no matter what I do to the 'Audio Stream & Audio Event' settings.

When I launch my .swf file with the video in it (2,671Kb) the video is about a second ahead of the sound, and the lip sync looks like a poor martial arts movie..? Anyone have experience of how to make this right? :confused:

Do you have to import the movie into the project? this results in the poorest quality of playback, if possible link to the movie externally to stream it. If you need to import it check the original frame rate of the movie before sorenson gets to it, set your Flash project frame rate to match this then import.

I meant the other way round - don't synchronise the video to match your project frame rate, make sure your project frame rate is the same as the movies before importing

O.K next question: How do I find out the frame rate of a .mov file?

It doesn't list the frame rate as part of it's Properties dialog box...

the frame rate is set in the document properties box. click anywhere on the background of your movie, i.e so your not selecting anything. your movie framerate will now be in your properties box set to it's default, 12 fps. This is good for quicktime movies with a 12 fps frame base (12 or 24 fps) but not so good for movies with a 30 fps frame rate which is quite common
