Outlook's gone haywire!

Edit: Solved the issue. deleted all registry keys associated with OE and re-ran setup. started but no deleted items bin.
Found a great artical here (http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/store.htm) explaining that the folders.dbx becomes corrupt from some W32.XXX worms. As I had one, I deleted folders.dbx then restarted the computer. OE generated a new Folders.dbx file and behold, the deleted items folder was there.

In a former thread, i posted on outlook "losing" it's trash folder and not allowing me to create a new one.
So tonight I figured I'd simply un-install Outlook and re-install it. (Outlook Express 6.0).
I very quickly realize this won't work without uninstalling IE 6.0 as well. Fine I shrug. I don't use IE anyway.
I roll back my installation to IE and OE 5.0 and clear user data when asked.
I restart and try to start Outlook only to be told that "The application was unable to open the message store."
I clicked ok and was then told MSOE.dll could not be initialized.

Well okay then. I'm upgrading back to 6.0 anyway right?
I rerun Windows update and select Internet Explorer & co 6.0 SP 1. It downloads fine and starts setup. After a good healthy restart it gives me back my god old desktop.
"Now lets see that trash folder" I say.
Nope. Outlook Express still can't open it's message store. At this point I'm wondering what this message store sells and why I can't buy it.
Again no MSOE.dll initialization either.

Now I download OE 6.0 seperate, Uninstall IE & OE 6.0 and try to run OE seperatly. Same thing. by now I'm dreaming about what it will look like when I wrap my hands around MSOE.dll's throat.

Uninstall that attempt and re-run Internet Explorer 6.0 SP 1 from my Windows update folder on the C:\ drive. Same deal.

IE works fine but that means buptkiss. i only care about Outlook and all outlook wants to do is go shopping apparently.
All MSKB articals regarding MSOE.dll seem to pertain to Windows ME and the knowledge base even goes as far as suggesting that reinstalling windows is a good alternative to isolating the problem.

The details:
Windows 2k SP4
KT3-Ultra2 MB
512mb ram
80gb c:\

Everything was backed up, but that does diddly squat if I have no program to import it into.
Any detail needed that I didn't mention, just ask.

What your response shouldn't be, "Use another program." or "Thunderbird works better."
