Dell 2001fp vs. 2005fp
Hello all, I have been looking into getting a LCD screen and so far my choice is the Dell 2001fp, but i just logged onto there site and I see that there is a wide screen one called the 2005fp. Just wondering if you guys have heard of this one and if its better/worse.
Right now in Canadian dollars the 2001fp is $935 and the 2005fp is $977. |
Here is a review from AnandTech for the 2001FP.
http://anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=1918 They consider it a really good monitor for gaming, so I'm sure CAD would look just great on it. |

This article talks about the new 2005FP...
http://news.designtechnica.com/article5822.html I was looking at the 2001FP, but this one looks sweet too. 12ms response time AND widescreen...wonder if it does the scaling thing like the 2001FP and if it has VESA mounts... Today only you can follow these instructions and get it for $679 before tax: gotapex.com Also check out more information here |
Thanks for help guys, and tinomen is that in American dollars or Canadian ones?

What about the 23" LCD TV that dell offers, how is it in terms of a monitor? I haven't really been able to find any reviews on it except for a small excerpt in PC World.

I have th 2001FP an LOVE LOVE LOVE it, it is so crisp, and in games, there is no ghosting. i dont do cad, but there is plenty of room to do it, and the 12 ms response time is very good.
I dont know much about the 2005, but it probaly is a good monitor too. cheers |
Sorry guys I'm not using CAD, what I ment by that is CAnadian Dollars (just like USD is US Dollars)... Although I am doing alot of sound recording and editing on this computer so I do need lots of space to fit it all on the screen without having to scroll every 10 seconds (like my current 13 inch veiwable CRT, its all that fits on the desk :()
|
LOL.. that is too funny.. sorry blahblah... most want big F'n displays either for cad, or for games... lol
|
I can't recommend one over the other, but I'm sure they'll both be a good buy. I love Dell monitors. Used to have a 2000fp and "upgraded" to two 1901fp's.
And why would you want widescreen? The only thing I know they're largely used for is music and video production (which is why I've got two. "Super widescreen!"). Or is it also good for other things that you're really into? Best of luck! -T |
I am trying to do music which is why it would be great, I also watch DVD's on my computer. But it is only 1 inch wider than the 2001 which isnt that much. I figure I am going to save up 100 dollars a week for this screen and that way by the time I have enough a new and better version will be out so I will just grab that!

Now that would be widescreen HDTV porn! |
I have the 2001fp, but I like my Samsung 213t better for some reason
|
I love my 2001fp, sure it cost me more than my computer but it will last me through longer than any computer so I thought it was worth the investment. I love the resolution, would be great for anything you throw at it. I wouldn't personally go with the widescreen I would just get two 19 in or similar if you need a wider enviroment.
