What do you guys think about this camera?
I've been keeping and eye out for a super-small camera for over a year now and figured only time could bring a small camera that was worth buying. Canon recently released the SD20 and I'm considering looking into it. I know it doesn't have a viewfinder, but I can't recall ever really using the vf on my other digicam, and I never made a habit of turning off the lcd when the battery was low (which I obviously can't do if I'm shooting).
The camera is basically going to be for 'social pictures' like when I go out with friends. However I plan on leaving it in my car so capturing sporatic pretty sunsets will be a requirement as well ;) Here's a decent unbiased revew with a conclusion and sample pics at the end (which are very un-anti aliased. Is that because they're on the web...?) http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/sd20.html Thanks for any info guys. -Tim Here's a link to a similar thread I made a little while ago. http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=69593 |
Can't comment on your Canon, but for what it's worth, I have an Optios which is also very small and I'm very happy with it. I use the viewfinder constantly.

I have seen it and it is a very good camera. Nice compact size and good quality pics. However, I didn't buy it because of the lithium battery. I had one like this before and after one hour, the battery was dead and I had to scramble and find a 7/11 and buy a disposable camera. I bought a Casio QV-R40. Take a look at the reviews...not a bad one around. It is very small, takes awesome pics, great features, some zoom and it uses AA rechargeable batteries. I bought a second set of batteries for about 6 bucks and keep them in my case for emergencies. Check it out. I bought mine for about $200.
