Buying a New Laptop HELP!
I'm looking for a new laptop and not sure what to get. The qualities I look for are: Performance and Value. I don't really care about size and battery life (i'm always at a place where I can plug it into). Your input and past experiences would help a lot. Thanks in advance.

Q #1 what kinds of applications do you need to run?

Toshiba makes some nice laptops at all price ranges. If you plan on doing some gaming get a Toshiba with the Nvidia GeForce 2Go chips. Very nice. Laptops with the Radeon Mobility 9000 are nice too.
I have a Sony PCG-GR250 with the Radeon M 7000 and I like it. Sony makes some great laptops as well. If you're just gonna do work and some browsing a $1100 laptop will do fine. Be sure to get a combo DVD/CD-R drive. You won't regret it. |
A friend of mine just switched to an Apple Powerbook. He's been very happy with it so far. If the Powerbook is too far out of your price range, you could always go with the iBook, which is highly recommended by anyone who has one. If I had money to blow on a laptop, i'd probably get an iBook myself. The nice thing about the new Macs is that OS-X is based on Unix, and Unix is fun! :)
