XP showing media details in explorer is unrequired
Quick: I need a method of completely disabling the default details shown for media ( dimensions, date taken, length ) in windows explorer as it can lock files and is bloody slow :(
I love XP to bits ( after taking pleasure in gutting the crap default settings outta it ) but theres still one thing that really bugs me You know in windows explorer where you can choose what details are shown for each file ( i use the detail view ), by default any media file boasts details such as album, dimensions, date shot etc. This may be helpful at times, but really fecking annoying as it slows dir listings down alot, and for large media it can lock the file so you cant move it or delete it for ages :/ You can turn all this stuff off, though on a folder per folder basis which sucks I need a way to disable this feature completely thanks in advance, bc |
in explorer, make one folder how you want it
tools --> folder options --> view apply to all folders button not exactly what you want but easier than doing it to each folder |
sadly the folder options doesnt appear to take this pref into consideration :/
there must be a reg fix to completely disable this |
i tested it on mine before i posted
i unchecked everything except size and file type, then applied to all folders, and all my music folders then displayed that way i checked again just now and i can def. do this with apply to all folders (xp pro) |
You're damn right, I did exactly what you suggested and it has in fact saved the settings for all folders ive tested ( recently formated, not much to go on yet )
Thanks VERY much longjohns, however if anyone has a way to disable/remove this 'feature' completely please post. thanks again john :D |
