Good digital camera??? (~$500)

I'm looking for a good digital camera. Thought I'd ask for your opinions...

Nothing professional, but good enough that average schmo would think so. I've been looking at the Canon Powershot series, but am open to any others.

i would suggest something that also offers full manual controls so that u can still have room to grow with whatever camera u decide on.

i think the canon s50 & s60 offer that. there may even be newer models in that S series that i didnt list...

Canon G5 isn't bad and it is about 500 dollars

Canon S60 is a fabulous camera, as already mentioned.
Can be found from around $360.

2nd the Olympus c-5050. I prefer the older model with f1.8 lens, it's quite a bit cheaper than the newer model.
