xbox modding

Any advanced xbox modders out there?

There's been a question that has really bugged me for some time and I haven't found a clear answer.

How do I easily change back to the original dashboard which has a decent dvd player? XBMC sucks in dvd playing department.

I have xenium modchip and I load EvoX bios from it and then I use the XBMC as the dashboard (I don't use my xbox for anything else than playing media). I renamed it to evoxdash.xbe to make the evox bios load it straight and it has worked perfectly.

But I would like to run original MSDash for just playing dvd's.

Well, you could try a different dashboard.

The original would probably have to be taken from another Xbox. Wish I knew more (or even had an xbox). Looks fun.

I of course have the original there saved. Different dashboards don't have anything to do with dvd playing.

I'm not familiar with your modchip, but is it one with a "on/off" switch? My Xecutor can be turned off when I want to use the original dash or play live. If yours doesn't have a switch, I can't think of any easy way to switch back to switch other than to use something like Evolution X (which allows you to switch to the original dash if you want), or XBMP (different, of course than XBMC). I haven't had any problems with XBMP at all.

No swithces in Xenium but I use EvolutionX (EvoX) like I said in the first post. I have the original bios there flashed in the Xenium (selectable) but the thing just doesn't boot and whines about service.

If I choose EvoX bios it of course tries to run evolutionx.xbe (which is actually in my case xbmc.xbe renamed) but dunno what file the original bios is trying to load... default.xbe I think. I have to double-check that the original dashboard is indeed the default.xbe...

Actually I'm in the reverse situation. I don't want to use the controller and I have the dongle and the remote. I tried to use DVDX but it requires controller What a piece of shit program. The programmer didn't seem to take into account that people would like to use the remote with his program (no, the dvdx1 doesn't work with remote either).

Why don't you launch the original dash from evox and play the dvd from there? Just wondering...

This thread has reminded me of something. Does the old thing that I heard awhile ago still hold true? That if you mod your Xbox in anyway, you are banned from Xbox Live service?
