Making two smaller MPEGS out of one or Compressing

I need to compress a 700 MB plus MPEG to fit on a disk. Or I need to turn it into two MPEG's. How do I do this. I have windows XP, 256 Ram, 1.4 pent, DVD, CD burner, Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum. Some of the Movies I have downloaded have been 700-790MB and I have filled up My hard drive. I need to burn them to disk.

have you thought of buying CDs that can fit 700-800MB?

I have looked but have not seen any. I just assumed 700 was it. I will check on the net.

Mup, try the Easy Video Splitter

Or, is there any way to zip the file before you burn it?

I think Pinnacle's Instant CD/DVD will re-encode the mpegs to fit with pretty good results. I know it works for mpeg2.
