IIS and NAV are fighting.. I think
I run IIS on my machine and up until now it's worked just fine. Last night, I installed Norton Antivirus 2004 on my system (yeah... I haven't run an antivirus on my computer in a while, but I don't have any viruses, so dont freak) and now I cannot access the site I run off IIS. It gives me a 403 error, citing too many connections. This cannot be true 'cause I'm the only one who access it and nothing else shows up on the log.
What sorta options/preferences should I look for? Oh yeah.. even when I disable Auto-protect, it doesn't work |
this might be it, http://forums.devshed.com/archive/t-69024
it seems that win2k has a users limit. it might be holding on to the connections. other then that i would suggest running the windows port of apache on windows if you can still not get it running. |
thanks.. that doesn't seem to be the issue because nothing seems to work.. sigh

I can't find the exact explanation in the millions of emails that I have -- but it sounds vaguely like a problem I had months back with the IRP Stack size being set to low - (Norton doesn't play nice with alot of applications)
Try boosing the IRP Stack and see if that helps. the number should be between 4 and 12 - -i think 7 is often the default http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kba...stacksize.html ----------------------- Next thing - have you tried uninstalling NAV completely and does it work then? |
If you have software that's dependant on IIs ( I assume asp, and .net would be), disregard this post.
You might want to look into one of the Apache/PHP/MySQL bundels available for Windows. I do allot of work with PHP and have been using Apache2triad for quite a while now. It's great - gives me PHP, MySQL, MyPhpAdmin, SSI, CGI Perl, Mod Perl, Apache::ASP, Python Spyce. The greatest thing about it is I don't have to configure anything - Just install it. It may not be a good choice for you depending on what you're running on IIs. Just thought I'd let you know what else is out there in case you didn't. |
the reason why I run IIS is because it is an ASP project. I use apache for my PHP stuff.
So far nothin's workin.. haven't uninstalled NAV yet. |
norton has a feature called script blocking. i have heard that it blocks asp from running on iis. you might want to try turning script blocking off.
