itrip for ipod
Anyone here have an itrip and if so, what do you think about it. I got one with my ipod, and so far i am not impressed. There is a great deal of static unless i hold the ipod in a certain area with my hand, which does not make for a good driving situation. Anyone have any suggestions for getting better reception?

Im not that impressed with my itrip also, I hate having to turn up the volume on the head unit even more than regular just to even hear the music comming from the ipod... Its good to keep the volume on the ipod atleast below or at 50%
Have you seen the new 4 gen ipod? :D:D http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/ima...29683389085431 |

Really??? |
I had the iTrip, I used it for about two days before I took it back.

A cassette adapter will be better than any FM transmitter, if you still have a cassette adapter. Better to get an Auxiliary Input for your radio.
|
Just to let you know, I bought the Monster (of Monster Cable fame) version with integrated charger/broadcaster. It sucked. I took it back after a week. I'm pretty convinced that redlemon is right - wires are the way to go!

My itrip works great... The key is finding a good station to use and keeping the volume low on the ipod and high on the radio.
|
Thanks, Im having problems finding a station that works well around here. Im in the New York area, Long Island, so if anyone that lives around here could give me suggestions, that would be great.

I also had a wonderful time using it in Europe after adding the Euro hacks. being in the entertainment industry the wife and I are both picky about our picture and sound, so in this case, we were both quite satisfied, not to mention not all rental cars come with a tape player but they all come with a radio. we generally find that it works best on the higher and lower part of the FM band. |
Personally I'd never get the iTrip. I have an Alpine Stereo so this little gizmo will let iPods go where none have gone before.
Alpine iPod Interface, KCA-420i http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/pro...-420i_hdr2.jpg By plugging in one simple wire this device will allow you to charge your iPod while providing high quality sound and control right on your Alpine deck. The only other way to get this type of connectivity is if you own a BMW. |
I have an iTrip. All I use it for is messing with people though. Like if you hear somebody listening to a spacific radio station, you can tune your iTrip into that station and mess up their music :D
|
Works perfect for me! Just doesnt work if you have the sound on the iPod turned all the way up! I've walked 30+ feet away from the radio through brick walls and still had it play perfectly, must be just the radio or something man but its sweet

You can buy an external jack on some stereos that will allow you to plug your iPod directly into your stereo. My son did this. Might want to check with your stereo manu to see if it will work on yours.
|
I don't have one, but a friend does and he saw in an ipod forum somewhere how you can siginificantly improve the range of an iTrip. I'd bet that it would also cut down on static, as the signal would be stronger.
Basically, it involves cracking open the iTrip cylindar and extending the copper wire (the antenna) at right angle outside it. |

Oh man, I'm so excited. PIRATE RADIO STATION HERE I COME! |
Has anybody had any luck connecting their ipod to their stereo system using the RCA adapters? If so, how was the sound quality?
