Browser issues

Help!!!

All I want to do is play a simple game of online euchre:)

I'm using mozilla firefox, and when I bring up the window for yahoo euchre, it tells me I don't have the plug in. I click the thingy that says "get the plug in", and it takes me to Java's homepage. I've tried downloading the version of Java that it takes me to, but, still, I can't play euchre :(

I've also tried with IE, and the euchre site tells me it requires java, so, I'm guessing my problem would then be the version of Java, and not my browser after all, but I still need help!

I'm running XP office, if that helps anyone.

Java Technology Help - Yahoo! Issues

The issue is probably with your Java installation. The above link should get all the answers you need; if not, post again here.

I was able to play Klondike. I have no idea how to play Eucre, so I didn't start a 2 player game.

If it uses Java you might want to check your version of the JVM (java virtual machine). Look in your control panel, if you see a coffee cup icon, you have the SUN version (as opposed to MS).

If it reqiuires MS (which oddly does not come with XP) you will need do install SP1. Try windows update.

(btw I'm kinda drunk so take my advice with a grain of salt)

Yay!!!! I love you guys!

I downloaded the 2 re thingy, and lo and behold, there's my euchre game.

Thanks a bunch!

related JAVA problem

I have a fresh install of XPHome, with all of the updates and SP!, and the yadda-yadda's. I'm running IE6, also with all the updates and add-ins I can find. I was getting no JAVA support, so I went tho JAVA.COM and installed "J2RE1.4.2_05" the went into IE and set the security and advanced settings to enable applets and scripts. I set JAVA to run in IE environment.

Now, everytime a java script attepmts to run, IE shuts down and a notepad document is deposited on my desktop:

The world has not come to an end, but my kids can't play any on-line games in JAVA, and I won't be able to take part ing the fantasy draft if I can't fix this.

Any ideas? (I've deleted and reinsalled tha JAVA several times)

Thanks,
grump

heyal256 07-16-2004 06:39 PM

The only idea I have on this one is that the java games being played are using the MS version of java (aka, not proper java).
The only thing to try is see if MSjVM (MS java vm) will work. Here is a link to the msjvm download http://www.ivtweb.com/jvm/

and here is a link for the tool to remove it

Fantastic help, heyal256! Sun's java just scrooed up everything, but MSjVM works perfectly! Thanks much!
