Cool Windows sounds
 

Anybody know where I can get hooked up with some off the wall windows sounds? Getting tired of the old defaults.

Well, they're not made for Windows, but there are some good sounds on kde-look.org Sure, they're made for use in KDE, but they'll all work in Windows if you convert them to an appropriate format (assuming they aren't already). Or, if you have any Mac user friends, it's always fun to have them convert their system sounds and send them to you to use on your Windows system. :)

You can use any sound you want for windows functions. Simply copy your .wav files (movie quotes, music clips, whatever), open C:> WINNT>Media, and paste the files there. Now when you choose Control Panel> Sounds and Multimedia, you will have those sounds available.

I know, I'm just being a lazy ass today and not scraping together all my CD's an other media. Was kind of hoping somebody had a site put together already.

I was actually looking for these a while back as well. Anyone know any sites that have the Mac OSX sounds in .wav format?

Bleh, no offense but, I seriously avoid sounds on my computer. I've had older systems lock up completely because they were processing a sound event. I'm sitting there clicking the shit out of my mouse, waiting for something to happen, and nothing's going on for 15 solid seconds, and then *boop*.

I just don't like that shit, but more power to ya if you can stand to lose CPU time to funny sounds.
