Totally fucked up file crashing my system please help!!

I downloaded this one file from emule and its doing strange shit to my computer i've never seen before.

if I try to do anything to the file, the computer starts freaking out, slowing down, cpu usage goes up to 100% and stays there, basically locks everything up.

I've tried deleting the file, even in safe mode but the computer won't let me it says it's being used by another program.

I ran virus checks on the system with both trendmicro and avg neither report anything.

Everything runs fine until i touch this file. How can I get rid of this fucking thing and what is it about the file causing this shit to happen???

boot to a dos prompt and delete via a dos window

Sometimes windows has problems deleting large file or file with long names. Thank Microsoft for that.

Try this: create 2 files in that directory, one that has a name before the one you want to delete and one that comes after it. Now hilight all three and try and delete them all at once.

what's the best way to boot to dos on XP? when hitting F8 it gives you an option in safe mode but will it work?

Even though you already have it fixed, the only way to truly boot to DOS with XP is with a win98 boot disk or the like.
