Intermittent Cable Connection
Well, my roommate moved out today and took his router with him. So, my computer is now hooked stright into the cable modem. Since this happend, my connection has started dropping out every hour or so. I can run "ipconfig /release" and then "ipconfig /renew" and the connection comes back fine. I even have a little script on the desktop to do this now, but it's a rather annoying problem. And idea what could cause it?

Hey, same thing happened to me a while back. What it was is that too many things were sharing the one cable line...ie computers and TVs. What you need to do if this is the case is buy an amplifier at Radio Shack, or get another cable line put in. Hope this works

Well, the cable modem is the only device on the line. When my roommate left, he took his TV which was the only other device on the cable system. But I'm moving shortly, so I guess I can deal with the problem for a week.
