Virus problem. :(

So I was downloadin a website using winhtt (cool prog btw) and it downloaded one file and AVG screamed VIRUS FOUND SENT TO QUARENTINE! I say okay, it gets quarentined. Then the file gets deleted becuase it cannot be cleaned. After it gets deleted, a couple hours later I get this popping up.

I've tried scanning my HD and nothing comes using AVG. Yet that pop up doesn't stop. I'm fuckin confused.

Anyone have any ideas?

Win XP PRO
AVG Free version (With up-to-date definitions...)
Also ran CWshredder and adaware, still fuxed.

did you turn off your system restore?

if not, do that then run AVG again.

I also 2nd the turning off of system restore.
Looking at the error message the location specified looks to be the system restore folder. In general, if you look at the virus removal instructions from symantec, they tell you that you have to disable system restore to clean out a virus.

I would suggest starting Windows in Safe Mode and then starting and running your anti-virus and anti-spy software.

Turned off sys-restore, scanned, doesn't find anything.

Started in safe mode, AVG won't run. I'll try anti-spyware when I get home.

Anything else? Would getting norton be a good idea?

Thanks a lot for everyones input, I really appreciate the help.

You should boot up in safe mode and run Stinger, available for free from MacAfee (I think it's 777K?). Stinger won't do much to prevent viruses, but man can it remove them.

Housecall would just freeze after searching a couple thousand files.

The virus never ran its course so to speak, I just can't get the exe file off of my computer.
