Network Connections not showing
When I go into My Network Places, my LAN is not displayed. I am going to be switching from dsl to cable, so I need to change my IP address configuration to "Obtain an IP automatically." I can't do this if I can't view my connection.
Windows XP Thanks for any help |
When you go into My Network Places, over on the left there should be an item that says "View network connections" Click this and it will show you what you want.

Thx, tried that but nothing is there. Time to reformat anyway.
|
Your network connection might not show up if you are having a problem with your network card. Usually if you check device manager and then reinstall the network card driver that fixes the problem.
|
RIGHT click on network neighborhood icon on the start menu, then click on properties. Also, you can get to you network connection through the control panel, look for the Network Connections in there, under the classic mode.

Thx for suggestions, but for some reason, network connections, network neighborhood, everything, were hiding from me. No matter what I did, they were just not displayed. I went ahead and reformatted and it's all good.
thanks |
I guess that's one way to fix it.
