Liltestep

Anyone here use litestep?

I use it right now and have a skin that I _LOVE_ :icare: but I have one problem. a big deal with the skin that I like is the fact that it has a "browser" button on the desktop that you can just single-click to open IE, now I wanna use mozilla / firefox but I want that button to open mozilla or firefox (i havent installed either one yet, used it for a while and then uninstalled it, now i miss it so im goin back to it  )

so anyone have experience with editing litestep files? i cant find where the button is....

(p.s. im using the Ghost skin off litestep.net)

IIRC (and it's been a while) you can set what exe is your browser in the litestep control panel.

Wild-ass guess... does Litestep launch whatever is set as the 'default browser' on the system? Try going to Firefox's Options (Tools-Options-General) and set 'default browser'.

well i have it set as my default browser, IE just sits there taking up space  but now im gonna try and find the litestep control panel, its not in the regular litestep menu

Muahahahahahahahahah! i went to the Evars.rc (text version of the litestep control panel) and edited the browser link MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH..... i havent actually restarted my computer to test it yet, but hooah!

didn't litestep die like 5 yrs ago?

Latch 04-22-2004 12:01 AM

zxello, you don't need to restart to test it. Just hit CTRL-ALT-F1 (I think that's the correct combo). That will pop up a special Litestep menu, where you can choose "Restart Litestep", which it does.. no restarts.. no logouts.. needed.

Cocktopus, Litestep isn't being produced as much as it has in the past, but it still has quite a following (and why shouldn't it, it's a great product :) )

Using litestep right now, loving it! My computer looks cool, runs better, and it's different enough from regular windows that no-one at work has a clue how to do anything on it. It's as good as a password, and I don't have to type anything in!
oh yeah, and it's free. I like free.

I have tried this program on several occasions.. I even went as far to put together a couple of desktops from ground up. Very customizeable..... I did find that certain applications would not install without explorer being the shell. Not a bad app though....

thats an easy fix tho, if the program wont install w/o explorer as the shell, just switch the shell, restart your comp, install and set litestep as the shell again =)

Yeah, that is what I was doing. But then, I got sick of doing that. So, back to ugly looking explorer.

I used it for a while. It got old because it wasn't entirely compatible with everything. But it's definitely the best of its kind.

I like Window blinds for desktop custom-crap... makes E look pretty... Plus, it only takes up like 1.2Mb RAM...
