I just found out that if you press CTRL-I while a movie is playing in WMP9* you can get screencaps without having to do that annoying perfomance acceleration trick. When you hit CTRL-I a save box comes up and jpeg is the default format to save the cap.

Just thought I'd share the wealth.

*WMP9=Windows Media Player 9 for the neophytes.

Or you can turn off overlays under tools > options > performance > advance . No need to hold ctrl. Just press print screen.

Does this only work with certain file types? I tried an avi. and no go.

Anyone tried to hit print screen while a movie is running and then opening paint and pasting?
As long as the movie is running active in media player it is also running in paint, realtime printscreen... odd...

yeah the printscreen thing only works if you disable hw acceleration. I always hated that method.

Bsplayer has the same feature. just press *P* and it will automatically save a jpg in the program folder. You can change that in the options somewhere.
