So my logitech mx500 just crapped out..

For some unkown reason I have to slam the mouse button to get it to actually click. Before I go out and buy a new one is there anything I could possibly do to try and remedy the situation?

Look under the stickers on the bottom.

Is there crap stuck under/in the buttons?

ok i had a similar problem with my mx500,

it turned out a small stone had lodged in between the button and the outer casing. so it was almost in a constant click state. i had to press really hard to do anything

just check around the button and see if you can see a large opening into the side of the mouse

How did it snap I've opened mine on several occasions and i've only lost the mouse wheel spring. Which I didn't mind because it made scrolling easier. I removed the wieght in it, and i've had the click problem was something lodged in it. Fixed, all you gotta do is find a screwdriver small enough to open it up.

When I took the last screw out, and opened it, the little base that the scroll wheel slides into, just easily snapped off. :/

just a suggestion: BestBuy has MX510 for $40 shipped from their website. Perhaps you should get that as a replacement.

Why does a wired mouse need 2 AA batteries?

Odd...it's not wireless....but I don't know why it would need batteries.

My $10 PS/2 General Electric optical mouse that I bought from Big Lots works fine. If you're a general user, it should work fine for you too.

Granted, it's my second one because the first one stopped working and I had to buy this one, and retun the old one in the new one's packaging.

But hey, I only paid 10 bucks.

Woo! Good thread! I don't have this problem, but I checked the bottom of my Intellimouse "laser" and found about 3 lbs of pure SHIT at the bottom! You have saved my life!

best buy is run by monkies

and i would highly reccommend this over a generic $10 one, especially if you do things with high precision (photoshop, fast paced gaming, etc.)

I'm not buying a corded mouse with batteries. Sounds like shit to me. And I'm not a basic user. I do lots of stuff in photoshop and play FPS games. I'm very picky with my mice. So far logitech has been the best performance wise.

I don't understand why more people aren't. I went through hell to find a comfortable mouse for myself. Ended up choosing an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 by MS. Have no idea how much it was but its been damn good for me.

Based on Logitech's website it seems to me that there's no reason for it to be listed with batteries. My guess is that, as someone mentioned above, Best Buy is just dumb.

What's the diff between 510 and 500? The biggest problem was on my microsoft mice, when I could move the mouse real fast, like a quick 180 turn in a game, It would just kinda wobble all up and not continue moving.

Munku, my impression of the MX500 is that it is top of the line. I would think that there would have been a warrenty. Any way you can put it back together and send it back? I have had some good experiences with them and think they might err on the side of the customer.

One thing that is preventing me from buying the MX duo (with the keyboard) is that I saw a neato Micro$oft mouse the other day that had SIDE scroll. That was nifty. You tilted the wheel to make it scroll windows to the sides. I was kinda hoping I would see Logitech follow suit since I like to buy their stuff (and we don't need one computer company to rule them all), but I bet MS put it in their OS and then patented it so only they would sell mice that take advantage of the feature.

Buy.com has it here:

Just buy an MX 700 Cordless and be done with it. It's the best mouse I've ever owned.
