PC Pranks
I thought I would renew this thread just because of the great ideas that came from the last one .
Remember ... these pranks must be ' non - destructive .' I'll start: Back to screwing with my fellow co - worker ... I've been adding ' special ' folders labeled ' hardcore porn ' through-out his C Drive . A new bit of fun I've discovered ... What I like to do is go to a Best Buy, and change all the WinXP computers to a standard WinY2K desktop , then ask the computer salespeople why they say Y2K ... the ad said it was a computer with WinXP , but they don't actually have XP on them ... evil. |
Put a trojan on my friends computer...used sub-seven..his firewall logged my ip and sent it to my ISP...I lost my cable internet for a month lol.

Change the button assignments and the sensitivity on the mouse. That always drives people nuts. :)
|
Good ole' changing the keys on the keyboard. What else, one that I rememeber someone here saying, do a floppy disk switcher'roo, and get a floppy disk, put it inside the case, put a blank disk in the new internal floppy drive, plug it in, and whenever they start the computer, they get a get an error message.
If they are using an older version of windows, you can change their screensaver password, that's always fun. If they are using windows 95/98, when you get to the login screen for it, hit cancel, go to c:/windows/ and look for their login name. An example would be Fallon.pwl. delete that then relogin, and change the password. So many more... |
Get a script that will automatically shut down the computer and place it in the Startup folder. To make things worse, right-click on it, go to Properties, and hide it.
|
I add a bunch of folders and files to someone's desktop, then take a screen shot. Then save that screenshot as the background and go back and delete those files and folders...
When the person comes back and starts trying to highlight and remove all that stuff, it's golden. Also, just replacing someone's background image with a big fat naked lady is always good fun. |
Get a copy of TweakUI on their system and use it to make the thumbnail view 5 pixels. Then go into Display properties and make the icons about the same size, and space them out to around 100.
|
change the word setting so it auto correct "the" into "shit" or something else.... so damn funny
|
The Blue Screen Of Death Screensaver is always good for a laugh.
|
This is annoying and reversible, quite easily. Instead of changing key bindings, physically move around all the keys on their keyboard slightly. Don't do the main ones, but maybe move some of the lesser used letters like z and x and such. It's especially good if the person isn't a touch typist.

To create the script, right click on the desktop. New Shortcut, then "C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindows" without the quotes. Or, if you want to make it restart, use "C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindowsexec" instead. (by the way, this works in Win 98/ME, don't know if it works in 95 and probably doesn't work in XP) :) *EDIT*: Here's how to do it in XP. |
Get a screen shot of a Windows blue screen and set it as their wallpaper. Of course, you've got the hide their Taskbar and desktop icons.
Here's a BSOD style screensaver: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/fr...ensaver.shtml. You can find others on Google. |
putting a shortcut to the command prompt in the startup folder gets most newbies to send their computer for service
|
My friend put goatse.cx as his friends desktop wallpaper once. He did it from his computer, not sure how, didn't bother asking.
|
make a new folder. highlight all of the desktop Icons and then move them off the screen so only the new folder is showing. then delete the new folder and you have no more desktop icons. always makes people wonder.
thats the easiest one to do, and its quick. at school, unplug the monitor so it still looks plugged in. MrGone |
