Okay, so I've downloaded the file...now what?
Alright. I downloaded a game, the data for which was in a bit torrent. I opened the folder and there's 4 folders, one for each CD, and another file. How should I go about burning the CDs? Do I just drag and drop each folder, or do I copy/paste the data from each folder, or what? Thanks in advance.

Depends what filetype they are. If they are a .iso you need to burn an image of these onto a CD or create a virtual CD but I don't know if the latter would work with multiple CDs.
|
to burn .iso you can use nero or anything or program. and if its a .bin file you can use cdrwin or cd-mate (the one i use) or nero also. or you can use deamon tools to run the bin instead of having to burn the game to a cd.
|
the files all end with numbers, when I look at them in properties they say .001 file, .002 file, etc. What do I do?
|
get a program called
winrar at www.rarlab.com/download.htm and i think f you extract it should make a bin file. |
Yeah, what Ov3rKiLL said. You'll have to install WinRAR, and extract all the files, which will most likely give you you ISO or BIN/cue files to burn the image.
Do you have Nero installed on your PC? |
thanks for all the help, guys, I really appreciate it.
yeah, I have nero. I'm downloading winrar as we speak. When it's in bin/iso format, I just burn it to a cd? |
Yeah, I'm not sure if you have the Ultra edition as I do.
If you don't have the Ultra edition go to File, and an option to burn image is there, I think. If you have Ultra edition go to Recorder-->Burn Image. Then all you have to do is find the ISO or cue file to burn the disc. It's really simple. |
alright. now I'm having some trouble getting all these files into an ISo or cue file...when I try to archive the files they end up as a .rar
what do you mean by extracting the files? I'm sorry I'm such an idiot about this, I wish I knew how to do it. |
double click on the first file, the one that is .001 and then it should open with Winrar, but if it says windows cant find a program to use, say you want to pick it manually and pick winrar. Then it will open up winrar. when it shows the file you want, just right click and push extract file. then it should go from there. Hope i didnt confuse you.

thanks. I know I sound like a totally computer incompetent little prick right now. thanks a lot for putting up with me, everyone. with that said, I have one more problem...
I'm gettin these .bins extracted, with the cue files, but the .bins are all 40-70 mb's over 700. have I been misreading what was told to me above, or am I just fucked from burning them to CD and need to find an alternate means [the daemon tools thing mentioned above] of running them from my HD? |
They will burn..
but if you have the harddrive space to store the CD Images, daemon tools is really your best bet. Save you CDRs and burner lifespan.. download daemon tools.. install it.. mount the first CD(search your hd for the .cue file).. CD should autoplay as if it was a real CD in a real CDRom, if the CD has autoplay that is.. start installing the game, since the game is multiple cds you will have to unmount(think of it as ejecting) the first image and then mount the 2nd image, when the installation asks. |
i got that all down. Now the game is installed (it's SW: Knights of the Old Republic) and I'm trying to play but the play disc is protected by Securom.
so far I've tried using Alcohol 120% to burn with some sort of Securom crack that it has, but when I try to load it, my mouse pointer becomes a disc icon and nothing happens other than my computer lagging up. Is there a program I need to use? Is my burner not good enough? It's just a generic 48x. |
If the release was by a major group *cough* razor 1911 *cough* check the fourth cd for a folder called "razor 1911" copy the .exe over the normal exe and play.
If you have patched-up to version 1.2 and need an updated .exe too bad. Go buy the game and then you can legitimatly get a crack from gamecopyworld.com. I think the fair-use of a legitimate crack beats the DCMA, but what do I know ? *double-checks post* nope nothing about warez here. |
If it was released by a major group then it probably came with a .nfo file.. always read the .nfo files.. just open them in notepad, it will say anything you need to know
|
Thread closed. We're headed into warez territory.
We can tell you how to use Nero, but that's it. |
