Thought I'd update this to say my Free Microsoft Security Updates CD came in the mail today. Too bad I run Linux.... I think I might do the ultimate nerdy thing and throw some Linux CD in the case. After all, it does say "Make your computer more secure!" on the front. Lame joke.. but I'm easily entertained :)
Also, another thing to note... The packaging is dated February 2004. Maybe they updated the contents of the CD. |
Can't you just download the same shit from "Windows Update?"
|
Ya you can the_marq, but if you are going to be just throwing in a "virgin" copy of XP online to dl allllllll of the patches, you'll be there for quite awhile and you'll get bombarded. This is a good idea I personally think for any large company that does fresh installs and the like. Personally, I'm gonna order one...

tie game. imho |
Ya, it still sucks, but it's a bit better then not having anything.
|
Just ordered mine. If it's free, why not. If you have to do a reinstall, it will save some time with the updates.
Thanks for the link. |
Sorry for the massive bump, but Microsoft updated the update cd for Feb 2004.
|
Since it was bumped...
I'll let you know that I was sent a second Microsoft Security Update CD.. seemingly the same as the first one they sent me (both Feb 2004). Not sure why.. hopefully they don't start acting like AOL CDs and arriving once a week :). |
Thanks for the link, it's even available over here... I am goanna attend a couple of my friends to it, if nothing else it will cost M$... that's a good thing :)
|
Just bringing this sucker back from the dead to say it is real, and heres the proof. :)

Still waiting for mine just got conformation from microsoft
|
Nah, they probably know enough about me already. I'm not giving them my address too...
Besides: Those cd's will at most cost them about $1. If ten million people ordered them, it will cost them a whopping $ 10.000.000 This might buy you and me and friends a house or two, but for Microsoft it's just change. FYI: Microsoft's revenue for last fiscal quarter was over $10 BILLION. That means that in a year they would go through 4.000 times the amount that those cd's cost. I'm not holding my breath for their bankruptcy. Edit, forgot the link where I got my financial info: http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/0122consucorpo.html |
